Renting? Consider An Instant Screen Door!

If you want to let fresh air and light into your home while keeping the bugs out, but your landlord doesn't want you to install a screen door, don't worry.  There's an option that will let you enjoy the breeze without forfeiting your security deposit.  Instant screen doors can be installed in just a few minutes, and don't need any tools.  There's no hassle when installing an instant screen door.  In fact, they can be installed by pretty much anyone.

Magnets hold the screen in place, but you can open and close it without needing your hands.  that means there are no problems carrying things through the door, and this kind of screen turns just about any door into a pet door.  These doors work well with children, too, since you don't have to check and make sure they haven't left the screen open.

If you walk through, even with full hands and arms, the door will close behind you, all by itself.  If you can't make a big change to your living space, this kind of door is perfect for you.  An instant screen door leaves behind no evidence that it was ever there - not even a dent in the door frame.  These doors are also great for people who have unusual doors, such as French doors, which are usually hard to get screens for.  If you don't want to pay for a costly custom installation, consider instant screen doors.

Another great feature of these doors is their portability.  It's easy to move them from door to door, or take them with your when it's time to move.  Some people use instant screen doors year-round.  Others prefer to take them down after warm weather is done.  This is a lot easier than with a standard door, since they don't take up a lot of storage space.

Instant screen doors won't break your budget, either.  Thirty inch doors start at about forty dollars, and large sizes are only a little more.  If you're screening an odd opening, consider purchasing a specialty size screen door.  You can put a screen up just about anywhere!

Installation is simple.  Just adjust the tension rod to a size just a little bit wider than the opening of the door you're planning to screen.  Insert it into one of the two fabric tunnels that's located at the top of your screen.  If you need to make the rod bigger, unscrew its smaller end, moving counter-clockwise.  Once you've got the right size, just place one side of the rod in the upper corner of the doorway and slide the other end up.  Everything should stay put firmly, without damage to the frame.

Once the rod has been placed, it's time to adhere the adhesive strips that are part of the screen to the sides of the door frame.  It's important for both the rod and the screen to be tight in the doorway.  You should also make sure that the middle of the screen lines up with the middle of the frame, and that you've measured the right height when you install.  If the screen is dragging on the floor, it won't close correctly.
